General Admission Information : Rules & Regulations : Procedure Upon Arrival

Admission criteria:

Riverview Manor is a unique, treatment facility that offers its services to adults who are voluntarily invested in bringing about change in their own lives.

These individuals typically require a supportive and contained environment to give them the best chance to accomplish change..

Medical Aid Patients:

A deposit is payable on admission. This is to cover any shortfall on your Medical Aid, and will only be refunded once your Medical Aid has paid. THIS DEPOSIT GOES INTO A HOLDING ACCOUNT AND WILL NOT REFLECT ON THE MAIN ACCOUNT STATEMENT. There are other shortfalls that will need to be paid outside of your medical aid cover. This is specific to each medical aid and will have to be discussed before admission.

Private Patients:

We offer a reduced 'single package rate' for those who have no medical aid. Clients are required to pay weekly in advance. The cost includes ward fees, meals and therapy, but excludes high care, x-rays, lab fees, sundries and medication. Those wishing to stay a minimum of six weeks are offered a further reduction in the rate, provided they stay a minimum of six weeks.

Sundries account:

Laundry, crafts, postage, telephone calls, notes, stationary etc. – must be settled on the day of discharge at the latest.

Weekends:

There is no therapy over the weekend, although, should a patient need to see a psychologist, one will be on call.

  • Outdoor & weekend activities include hiking, horse riding, tubing & fishing. A cap/hat, binoculars, sunscreen and fishing rods are recommended.
  • The weather in the Berg is very variable – it is advisable to bring both summer and winter clothing. Patients go on daily walks so comfortable walking shoes are advisable.
  • There is a gym and small swimming pool on the premises – please bring a swimming costume, towel and gym clothes.
  • Please ensure that you bring only roll-on deodorants with you, no aerosols are permitted .

Pocket Money :

Clients may spend a maximum of R50 per day (cigarettes, sweets, toiletries). Any outdoor and weekend activity costs will be paid out of pocket monies (this is over & above the R50 daily allowance). Pocket money is not kept on the client. We will do their shopping for clients. If the client smokes, cigarettes can be bought with pocket money. You may also bring cigarette cartons with you provided they are handed in on arrival.

  • All valuables (including cell-phones, credit cards, cheques & cash) must be handed in for safekeeping, Please do not bring laptop computers with you.
  • Phone cards (R20.00) are available. Therapeutically, however, we do not permit patients to make / receive telephone calls for the first 10 days. Similarly, no visiting is allowed for the first 10 days. Thereafter, these issues may be negotiated with your therapist. Family / friends are welcome to contact the therapist / nursing staff / matron for regular progress reports.
  • Laundry may be done on the premises and will be charged to the patient’s account. Please ensure that clothing is clearly marked. (Laundry is done Mondays to Thursdays)
  • Accommodation can be arranged at B & B’s in the area for family who may come up for therapy sessions and wish to stay overnight.
  • NO ALCOHOL OR DRUGS ARE PERMITTED ON THE PREMISES.
  • ALL PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION MUST BE HANDED IN TO THE DUTY SISTER ON ADMISSION. ALL LUGGAGES WILL BE SEARCHED ON ARRIVAL.
  • RIVERVIEW MANOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CARRY OUT RANDOM DRUG SCREENING AT ANY TIME.

EXTRA’S

Horse Riding: - R130.00 per hour

LAUNDRY SERVICE

Laundry Days: Mon & Thurs

NB: All laundry is done at owner’s risk.
