Riverview Manor's Rules & Regulations
- No drugs, alcohol or medication (unless prescribed by the doctor) is allowed on the premises.
- Clients may not have contact with drug users or alcoholics outside of the facility, whilst at Riverview Manor.
- Aggression, violence, verbal abuse or threats of violence or any anti-social behaviour is not allowed.
- Discussions about addictive behaviour (including eating disorders and self-mutilation) are not allowed.
- Clients may not leave their “tuck” lying around as this is a trigger for Eating Disorder Clients.
- Clients are not to engage in a counselling role with other Clients.
- No two Clients may form an intimate relationship to the exclusion of the other Clients.
- No physical contact is allowed unless deemed appropriate by a staff member in a therapeutic setting.
- No sexual contact OF ANY KIND is allowed between Clients.
- Clients are not allowed to separate themselves socially from the rest of the group.
- Male and female Clients are not allowed to visit in each other’s wards. This includes private and executive wards.
- Fellow Clients are not advised to keep in contact after leaving the facility.
- Clients may NEVER leave the hospital grounds without permission.
- Clients leaving the premises must sign a leave of absence form.
- Clients must tell the staff on duty where they are at all times.
- All money, stamps, credit cards, cell phones or valuables of any kind must be handed in for safekeeping on admission.
- No music systems are allowed on the premises. MP3 players/iPods may be used with the permission of your psychologist only. This use will be restricted to evenings and whilst gym-ing. MP3 players may not be used in group settings where the use of the MP3 has the effect of socially excluding the client. All CD’s will be screened by the therapist on admission.
- All bags and parcels entering the grounds will be searched. Spot searches will be done from time to time.
- Clients are not allowed visitors until day 11 of their stay. The day of admission is counted as the 1 st day of your programme. After this time, visitors are only allowed with permission from the Client’s therapist. Visitors are not allowed upstairs.
- No phone calls are allowed to be made or received until day 11 of their stay. The day of admission is counted as the 1 st day of your programme. This is at the discretion of the Client’s psychologist. Clients may NOT make calls for other Clients.
- Drug tests will be carried out from time to time.
- Clients are expected to keep themselves clean and tidy. They must be full and appropriately clothed when out of their wards.
- Clients must make their own beds and keep their wards tidy.
- Clients may not spend long periods of time in their wards on their own.
- Clients may not go to sleep before 09:00pm.
- No weapons of any kind are allowed on the premises. They must be handed in for safekeeping.
- No chewing gum, coke or diet coke is allowed.
- Client confidentiality is to be maintained at all times.
Should these rules not be obeyed, the following action will be taken:
- The Client will get ONE verbal warning
- Thereafter further steps will be taken as decided by the therapist.
- If the infringement of the rules is severe, the Client may be summarily discharged.
